Phases of the Moon.
The First Quarter
Begins at the new moon. The first quarter occurs when the sun and themoon ar einthe same degree of the same sign. During the onset of the first quarter, the moon will not be visible because it rises at the same time as the sun. At the end of the first quarter a very thin sliver will be seen as it chases the sun at sunset over the horizon.
The Second Quarter
Occurs when the sun and the moon are at right angles to one another, halfway between the new moon and the full moon. This is known as the half moon and is visible in the sky until around midnight.
The Third Quarter
Starts with the full moon when the sun and the moon are directly opposite each other and the sun's light shines directly on the moons surface.
The Fourth Quarter
Begins half-way between the full and the new moon. During the Fourth quarter, the sun and the moon are once again at 90 degree angles.
The New Moon
A powerful time to reflect and neditate. A time of new beginnings,a nd an auspicious time to cast spells for renewal and growth.
The Full Moon
A time of enormous energy and power. It is during the full moon thatone should cast spells for fullfilment and completion.
The Dark of the Moon
The time when the power of the moon is held back, just waiting to be released. Ther is great potential energy during the dark of the moon.
The Waxing Moon
The time from the new moon to the full moon is referred to as the waxingmoon ~ the time whne the power of the moon is ever increasing.
